Resources

Here you will find people that I work with on a continuous basis, love, and put my total faith in because they have proved themselves time after time.  They are in no particular order of personal preference either.  Seriously – I put them into a “randomizer” app. Everything in Gold is a link to their website.

Venues

Instead of just listing venues I thought it would be much more beneficial to give you a little description about each venue.  Hopefully this can save you some time depending on what vibe you are going for and which area suits you best.  Every place has something unique to offer which is the hard part.  The links will take you directly to their wedding page.  Good luck!

  • Deerfield (Newark, DE) Stunning views for your ceremony with rolling hills in the background.  A room for every sized event with gorgeous views and a wonderful team all the way around.  Hospitality at its finest from beginning to end.  Go for the uplighting in the ballroom too.  With their white walls between the solarium style windows that you will not find anywhere else – Deerfield was built for uplighting.

  • Hotel DuPont (Wilmington, DE)  Historic.  Elegant.  Huge.  Have your ceremony in the DuBurry room, cocktails in the atrium, and then wow your guests with their timeless ballroom for the reception.  The addition of uplighting will really warm the space but also highlight the intricate beauty that is all around.

  • Rosewood Farms (Elkton, MD) Farm setting meets Pier 1.  Love it.  Separate barn building for ceremony with cocktails below and outside.  Reception in large yet not overwhelming space.  Take advantage of their three story ceiling and blank canvas white walls with uplighting to really create an amazing atmosphere that will bring your reception to life.

  • The Waterfall (Claymont, DE)  Prepare to be amazed once you walk through those doors.  Great ceremony spot and cocktail area.  Large and mid sized reception room to choose from.  Come hungry.

  • Harry’s Savoy Grill (Claymont, DE) They don’t call it Harry’s Hospitality Group for nothing.  Great service, great room, great everything.  Utilize uplighting to tie both sections of the ballroom together.

  • Chesapeake Inn (Chesapeake City, MD) Intimate venue overlooking the water.  Multiple ceremony spots.  Twinkle light ceiling creates a very romantic atmosphere, but being right on the Canal creates your own waterfront private party at this already known party spot.

  • Concord Country Club (West Chester, PA) Great ceremony spot with open greens and water fountains in background.  Separate cocktail area.  Newly renovated mid sized reception area overlooking the golf course.  Great room for uplighting.

  • The Gables (Chadds Ford, PA) Open ceiling two story barn with a great outdoor spot for ceremonies & cocktails. Hidden gem.

  • Christiana Hilton (Christiana, DE)  Two outdoor ceremony spots along with two intimate sized rooms of your choice.  After party already built in to your venue with their hotel lobby bar.  Bonus –  short walk back to the hotel room.

  • Hockessin Memorial Hall (Hockessin, DE)  Tons of room to roam.  Kind of a blank canvass so let your vision come to life and invite everyone you know.

  • The Whist Club (Wilmington, DE) Original mansion dating back to the early 1800s.  Very cool.  Outdoor ceremony, multiple rooms for cocktail, and an updated modern day feel in reception area.  Definitely go for the uplighting there.

  • The Chase Center (Wilmington, DE) No matter the size – there is a room for your event.  From HUGE spaces to smaller meeting rooms – they can – and will accommodate.  Guests can take a short walk at the end of the night with numerous nearby hotels.

  • Winterthur (Greenville, DE)  So it’s seclusion you seek?  Well then this is the perfect place.  Have your ceremony and cocktail at the reflecting pool and take pictures with the country’s 5th largest mansion in the background.  You read that correctly.  Various spots for reception.

  • The Carriage House (Wilmington, DE) Ceremony in the gardens with historic (and rumored to be haunted) mansion as your backdrop.  About the coziest little carriage house you will find in these here parts for the reception.  One of the few built in sound systems that actually sounds great.

  • Meredith Manor  (Potstown, PA) Massive yet very cozy and recently renovated farm venue.  You will be blown away once you walk in and a tour of the property will seal the deal.

  • Greenville Country Club (Greenville, DE)  Historic DuPont mansion.  Ceremony in gardens with reception outside in their permanent tent overlooking rolling hills of Greenville.  The white tent ceiling is the perfect canvas for uplighting.

  • Hartefeld (Avondale, PA)  Medium sized venue with great outdoor spot overlooking their golf course for ceremony or have your reception out there too.  Put the finishing touch on the room with uplighting.

  • Loch Nairn (Avondale, PA) Hidden gem!  Very unique.  Ceremony in remaining stone base of a former barn.  Reception inside Greatroom.  Intimate yet the connecting round room gives extra space.

  • Mendenhall Inn (Mendenhall, PA) Two main reception rooms to choose from with ceremony areas too.  Medium sized and large large large!  The Grand Ballroom has a great bridal suite to lounge and then make your big entrance from their elegant staircase.  Uplighting looks great in both room but the Grand Ballroom with its high ceilings is incredible.

  • Double Tree Concord Pike (Wilmington, DE)  Two rooms to choose from.  Medium sized and a very spacious room for your event. Cocktail can also be held outside of the main ballroom as well.  Plenty of overnight lodging so your guests can cut loose and have a very very short trip home for the night.

  • Riverfront Events (Wilmington, DE) The riverfront’s newest venue.  That whole area has really come a long way.  With the multitude of restaurants, hotels, and attractions it is a beehive of activity.  Beautiful ballroom and a short walk for guests staying out of town or those that know they are going to party like rockstars.  As they should too.

  • The Wellwood (Charlestown, MD) Quaint little spot facing the North East River in a quaint little town setting.  Ceremony in separate area that is right on the water.  Cocktails outside and remainder of reception inside the permanently tented pavilion.  Separate cottages available too for lodging.

  • Brantwyn Estate (Wilmington, DE)  A DuPont mansion with a very secluded lower level garden for ceremonies and a multi-room venue for reception.  Cocktail can be a mix between outside and inside.  Also an option to tent outback.  Plenty of rooms upstairs to get ready and have your wedding party hang out.   Heads up this venue is also managed by DuPont Country Club so the link will take you to their website for both properties.

  • Terrain (Glen Mills, PA)  Intimate and cozy.  Great outdoor ceremony spot and cocktails.  Reception is in one of the original “Styer” farm building that dates back to the late 1800s.  Very cool.

  • Terrain (Devon, PA) Newly constructed!  Ceremony and cocktails outside.  Reception spot is a very clean and crisp but earthy vibe only how Terrain could do it.  Killer in house sound system.

  • DuPont Country Club  (Wilmington, DE) Multiple rooms for whatever size your guest list will require.  Ceremony spot in back of the club, cocktails in separate hallway outside of the main ballroom.  All kinds of options.  Definitely go for the uplighting in the Crystal Ballroom to illuminate those two story columns.

  • Bohemia Overlook (North East, MD)  You want to be by the water?  No problem.  Outdoor tented event?  No problem.  Indoor rustic barn vibe?  No problem.  Multiple gorgeous areas for your wedding.  Nestled on the outskirts of town and overlooking the Bohemia River.

  • The Queen (Wilmington, DE) Originally built in the 1871 as The Indian Queen Hotel and then repurposed into a movie theater in the 1900s the “newly” renovated space is uber cool to have your wedding.  The main room is very spacious with balconies above and a killer sound system.  If you have more of an intimate guest count their smaller Crown Room may be for you.

  • Ballroom at Windsor (Middletown, DE) A quaint little space on a working tree farm that has all the charm you would expect going south – which in Delaware terms is anything below the RT1 bridge.  Nice ceremony space with water in the distance, outdoor cocktail space, and an intimate reception space with a killer bar decorated with old timey bank vault doors.  Very cool.

  • The Farmhouse (Wilmington, DE) Cozy.  Very cozy.  A great ceremony area, large outdoor deck and seating area for cocktail, and the little nook area where the bride, groom, and immediate family are seated make for a perfect space once the dance floor opens up.  Go for the uplighting in that space as well.
